Cat Exam Date 2024

Approximately 3 lakh aspirants take the CAT exam every year. The previous year, registration for the CAT exam was from August 2 to August 21, and this year, registration is going to start from August 3 to August 15. If we talk about the date of the exam in 2023, it was held on August 26, and the results were released on December 21.

Students have to pay ₹2400 for general and ₹1200 for reserved. The exam will be held in 150 cities across India, and it will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

CAT Exam Eligibility

The aspirant should have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks and 45% for SC, ST, and PWD/DA categories. If you are a professional degree holder (CA, CS, ICWA, or FCAI) with the required percentage, you are eligible.

NOTE: Aspirants waiting for results or in the final year of their bachelor’s degree can apply.

CAT Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The syllabus is divided into 3 sections (VARC, DILR, and QA). VARC includes reading comprehension, para-jumbles, para-summaries, and odd sentences. DILR includes set theory (variables), puzzles, coding-decoding, and series. And QA includes a number system, algebra, arithmetic, geometry, and measurement.

If we talk about the exam pattern, then the question will be MCQ-based and last for 120 minutes. The total number of questions will be 66, for a total of 198 marks. Each section has a time limit of 40 minutes. It also has negative markings for wrong MCQs of -1 and +3 for correct answers.

NOTE: No negative marking for non-MCQs and skipping questions.

How to apply for CAT Registration

  • To register for the CAT exam, visit the official website of IIM CAT.
  • Click on the Apply button in the advertisement section.
  • Fill in the academic and personal details in the form.
  • Upload your passport-size image and signed signature on blank paper.
  • Pay the registration fee of ₹2400 (general) or ₹1200 (SC/ST)
  • Print your receipt at last.
